PCB holders, frames and racks are available in different shapes, styles and sizes to suit the various sizes of PCBs (printed circuit boards) across different applications. They are used at various points and stages throughout the manufacturing process, including providing support during soldering, as drying or draining racks after preparation, and to aid the transportation of partially or fully assembled boards. There are also sub-rack systems, such as Eurocard support tracks, that allow for the easy installation and removal of PCBs. RS Components supply a variety of PCB racks, holders and frames from trusted brands across the industry, including Idealtek, Weller, and our own RS PRO.
PCB holders and frames are used during the assembly and soldering processes of PCB manufacture and help to support the PCB. Typically made of aluminium, PCB frames are typically set atop a desk or surface, keeping the PCB in place to help prevent accidental misplacement of components. PCB holders can be different in shape and style from frames to allow for more flexible use where surface space for a frame may not be available.
PCB racks are available in different shapes, sizes and features to suit various sizes of PCBs. Some racks come with storage modules that can be stacked for horizontal or vertical PCB storage while others have adjustment mechanisms to allow for different PCB sizes. They are safe for use with ESD (electrostatic discharge)-safe mats and ESD-protected areas.
Flat PCB holding racks can hold over 20 PCBs for transport and storage at manual workstations. These trays will also hold virtually any PCB size. L-shaped trays provide PCBs with support on two sides, which prevents the boards from moving during transportation.
