Machine Screws

Machine screws are blunt ended screws used to fasten metal parts together. Usually made from brass, steel or stainless steel and also come with coatings such as brass, copper, nickel and galvanized which help to deter rust. Machine screws have the four basic head types flathead, roundhead, oval head and fillister head. You can learn more in our complete guide to machine screws.

RS Components have a great range of fastener and fixings including machine screws in thread sizes M1 to M12 and various head shapes such as pan and countersunk to name a couple. We also supply a selection of drive types like pozidriv and slot in various lengths (both metric mm and imperial inches).

Typical Applications:

Machine screws are designed to hold separate components together in a wide range of applications such as industrial machinery and vehicle engines. They are screwed through pre-drilled tapped holes in 2 components and can be fastened at the rear with a nut. Machines screws are used to fasten components in:

  • Machines
  • Tools
  • Appliances
  • Electronic Devices
  • Vehicles
  • What is a Pozidriv Head Type?

Pozidriv, also known as Pozi, stands for positive drive. This head type has a cross recess in the centre with four small indentations around it creating 8 points of contact. This design provides improved engagement and contact with the screwdriver and prevents ejection force when tightening or loosening the machine screw.
