Network Testers

Network Testers are devices designed to measure and test existing LAN connections. LAN Testers are a must-have piece of equipment for every network installer. Whether you are troubleshooting an existing connection or installing brand new cable connections, cable tester checks the signal quality and point at exact cables or cores that need an attention. They can also be used for certifying connections. Network cable testers can be used with copper or fibre cabling.

How do Network Testers work?

A network cable tester is an electronic device that measures the conductive between two ends of a cable. It also checks and measures signal for correct wiring. There are two most common ways of testing the connection:

  • Tester sends a current down the wire and measures its level. This is called a continuity testing.
  • Tester sends a current and a voltage down the connection. Resistance testing is measuring a voltage and current, it calculates a resistance.

What is a typical application of Network Cable Testers?

For different data that can be transmitted over the Ethernet network data cables. Testers are suitable for testing computer Cat 3C, Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, Cat6e, Cat 7 cables. They can also be used for testing and confirming the correct installation of telephone lines, all kinds of RJ45 fitted cables, LAN cables, and some models even coaxial cables.
