The main benefit of wing nuts is that they are easy to install and drastically reduce the risk of overtightening and are also useful in areas where space is limited, and tools can’t be used. Because of this, however, these fasteners are not recommended for applications that require structural support and security, or high vibration environments, as there is an increased risk in them loosening over time.
