The double cut file also features a bastard cut coarseness, assisting with a more aggressive and rapid approach of removing stock whilst still producing a smoother finish. The edges and surfaces of the file are also tapered towards the end, allowing for gradual filing and shaping to be achieved.

The RS PRO double bastard cut half round file is accompanied with an ergonomic soft grip handle, helping to enhance comfort and control allowing you to get the most out of the file with minimal effort. Bastard cut refers to the coarseness of the file, other types include second cut and smooth cut. Files with a bastard cut feature teeth that are coarse allowing for rapid removal of stock material whilst still producing a relatively smooth finish.

Like many of types of files, half-round files are designed to be used with a forward or push stroke, using steady, even and long strokes. Filing too quickly and aggressively can damage the material you're working with.
