This horizontal-mounting float switch from RS PRO can be used to turn a circuit on or off when a liquid reaches a certain level in a tank. The compact design makes it easy to install in confined spaces.

The body is made from polyphenylene sulphide (PPS), a high-performance thermoplastic that can withstand more aggressive chemicals and temperatures between -20°C to and +120°C. The screw fixing is fitted with a nitrile rubber gasket to form an effective seal and comes with a 1 m lead for connection to the circuit. The switch action can be reversed by rotating the device through 180°.

Note that this type of switch needs access to the inside of the tank to be installed. Components such as this one are commonly used in applications including vending machines, commercial washing machines and evaporator units.
