Why is True-RMS important?
An average-responding meter struggles to give an accurate reading for non-sinusoidal (uneven) waves. Since waveforms can be distorted by anything from variable speed drives to computers, that can cause problems. To iron out the issue, a True-RMS meter accurately measures both non-sinusoidal and sinusoidal waves.
